Pupil Premium at Greenbank Primary School

Pupil Premium Background to Funding
Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools so that they can support those pupils who are considered to be disadvantaged pupils and close the attainment gap between them and their peers. The Pupil Premium was first introduced in April 2011.
The government believes that Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent, as they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils at their school. Schools are held to account for these monies and performance tables capture the achievement of pupils in receipt of this funding.
Greenbank is committed to ensuring that this funding is directed effectively to support the specific needs of students and robustly evaluated to ensure best practice is incorporated and value for money sustained.
The funding awarded to schools to help fund strategies to close the gap is as follows:
|Those who have been in receipt of free school meals at any point in the past six years (Ever 6 FSM)||£1,320 per child|
|Those who have been continuously looked after for the past six months (LAC)||£1,900 per child|
|Those who are adopted from care under the Adoption and Children Act 2002 or those who have left care under Special Guardianship or Residence Order (Post LAC)||£1,900 per child|
|Those children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces or were eligible for funding in the last four years (Ever 4 Service Child)||£300 per child|
|Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) (only introduced this year)||£302.10 per child|
Money has been ring-fenced and used to benefit all pupil premium pupils. We have established clear lines of responsibility with a member of the Senior Leadership Team and a link governor taking responsibility for Pupil Premium.
At Greenbank, our high proportions of FSM children have meant that our pupil premium money has represented a significant proportion of our budget and we have planned our spending carefully to ensure that it has been spent to maximum effect. This has meant making informed decisions about our spending such as:
All staff are aware of areas for development in the school in terms of subjects, year groups and they know which children are focus children.
Money is used to benefit all pupil premium children and supports higher as well as lower ability children by extending provision on offer. As well as this, we do work hard to ensure that the maximum number of the entire student body will benefit from the impact of this funding.
We have revised our assessment and monitoring systems to support improvement in the quality of teaching and interventions in order to maximise impact.
How can this benefit you
As you can see, for each Pupil Premium child the school will receive a lot in additional funding. You are entitled to Free School Meals if you are in receipt of Universal Credit (provided you have an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400, as assessed by earnings from up to three of your most recent assessment periods), Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, the guaranteed element of Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190) or Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.
