Physical Education in the National Curriculum.

The National Curriculum  for Physical Education has been designed to allow children to make the most of their physical, emotional and communication skills. Traditionally children were required to learn Physical Education through taking part in a variety of sports. However, the new National Curriculum (introduced in 2014) was designed to allow teachers and children to have more freedom in their lessons by experiencing a range of new sports, activities and pass-times.

Physical Education at Greenbank Primary School.

As our mission statement suggests, 'If you can believe it, you can achieve it!', here at Greenbank we pride ourselves on encouraging children to think big and reach for the stars! That is why we strive to provide an innovative and in-depth curriculum - one that enables our pupils to grow in confidence, learn the value of respect, work as part of a team, develop their leadership skills and most importantly, make informed, lasting choices about the way they live their life!

Throughout the year, children from Nursery up to Year 6 will get the chance to experience a rich and vibrant curriculum. Each class will receive different lessons from the activities listed below and will rotate on a termly basis. This ensures that by the end of the academic year, every child at Greenbank Primary School will have taken part in as many new sporting experiences as possible. In addition to an ever-changing and innovative curriculum, Greenbank offers a number of extra-curricular activities, that once again, rotate on a termly basis, allowing a large number of activities to be offered over the year.

Current curriculum activities:

  • Football with Liverpool Football Club

The Liverpool School Sports Partnership was established in 2000 and works in direct partnership with schools across the Liverpool area. It's main aim is to work strategically with educational bodies, sports clubs and outside agencies to promote, develop and enhance PE, Sport & Physical Activity for the young people living in the Liverpool area.

It is because of this fundamental partnership with LSSP,  that the children at Greenbank Primary School are able to experience such a wealth of physical activities. Greenbank Prmary School is proud to have invested in the LSSP Gold Package for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Gold Package gives our school access to staff development, specialist teaching and a wide variety of inter-school competitions. Many of these competitions are run in coordination with other sporting bodies such as LFC, EFC, local sport and leisure centres and secondary schools across the Liverpool area.

The website links below take show you some key information about LSSP and give more insight into the service they provide.
